Mountaineer Student Support Referral/Early Alert

Purpose:

The purpose of the Mountaineer Student Support Referral program(formally known as the Early Alert Program) is to provide support for any student who may need assistance to succeed at Eastern Oregon University. All faculty, staff and administration can refer a student that they see could benefit from additional support from the various student services across campus. Having a user-friendly centralized system will allow students to receive the help they need in a timely manner. If you have a concern about a student in your course, work study or club; fill out the short survey to allow the Student Success Coordinator to know which entities on campus to contact in order to help the student in the most effective manner.

Who is it for?

A Mountaineer Student Support Referral can be sent at any point during the term for any student.

When to file a referral vs. contacting others?

The Mountaineer Student Support Referral program is not intended for students with conduct issues or for major issues that needimmediateattention. For example, if a faculty member has a student acting out in class, continually being disrespectful, and/or calling another student names/verbally harassing them, that would be a conduct issue that should be referred to the Vice President for Student Services or the Director of Student Relations. If someone interacts with a student whom they believe to be suicidal, or who is experiencing emotional concerns, that would involve a referral to and/or consultation with Counseling Center staff.
