A New Approach

The Early College Dual Credit program at Eastern Oregon University does more than just offer students college credit that applies directly to bachelor degrees. We partner with schools, teachers, and education staff to provide the professional development resources they need. We believe college is for everyone, and we are on a mission to ensure every PreK-12 school district has a dedicated university partner. Consider this holistic model the future of education: PreK-16.

Career & Degree Ready

Our Career Pathways are designed for students to take degree-applicable courses in fields they are interested in. Students can start an actual degree program while in high school and get into the workforce faster. If you have students interested in earning college credit while in high school, they no longer need to take just any dual-credit course. Instead, EOU has 100+ university courses taught by expert faculty that apply directly to accredited bachelor degrees. No more transferring courses to colleges that do not apply toward a degree.

To be eligible/“authorized” as a high school teacherto teach college level courses through Eastern Promise, high school teachers must meet several requirements:

1.Be approved by their high school administration and Eastern Oregon University (Complete this form)

2.Have taught in the discipline or related subject area for at least three years or have a master’s degree, preferably in their teaching discipline – verification required.

3.Attend an Eastern Promise training session in their discipline conducted by the appropriate Eastern Promise Professional Learning Community (PLC)

5.Renew authorization annually, and be willing to allow college and university faculty to assess their performance

What are my responsibilities as a Dual Credit Teacher?


Once you have been authorized to teach dual credit courses, you must:

1.Attend an Eastern Promise training session in their discipline conducted by the appropriate Eastern Promise Professional Learning Community (PLC)

2.Become an active member of the PLC and work closely with your PLC leader; i.e. attend all meetings and trainings throughout the year.

Can I receive PDUs or Credit for being a Dual Credit Teacher and attending PLC meetings?


Yes!Teachers and educators can receive PDU for participation or 1 graduate-level credit per PLC meeting (at a nominal cost).

Credit Overlay Non-Admitted Form/Credit Overlay Reg Form– These two forms are required if you are choosing the option of receiving a grad credit for your participation in an Eastern Promise PLC group. Your participation in a PLC group will be verified by the attendance sheet from your PLC meeting. Please send your completed forms, and any questions you may have toep@eou.edu.
